About
A small Pakistani counter on First Avenue in the East Village that started as a Smorgasburg booth, then a food truck. Its chopped cheese swaps the plain ground beef for chopped-up chapli kabob, with peppers, onions, pepper jack and American.
Amenities
The one to order is the beef chapli kabob chopped cheese: you can taste the cumin and coriander from the kabob, and it comes with a lime-cilantro sauce and a sweet tamarind chutney. There are also chicken, lamb and Impossible versions, and the same filling shows up on loaded fries. The elotes chaat is the usual side.
Owner Zeeshan Bakhrani ran Nishaan as a Smorgasburg stand and a food truck (it won The Great Food Truck Race) before opening this storefront in 2025. There are only about ten seats inside plus a few sidewalk tables, so plenty of people take it to go.
