About
Jeremy Batista's chopped cheese counter on Havemeyer Street, the sit-still version of his Bodega Truck. The room is done up like an old corner store, and the menu is almost all chopped cheese, from the plain O.G. to the El Dominicano with fried cheese, salami and cabbage.
If it's your first chopped cheese, start with the O.G.: beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and bodega sauce on a hero. Once you know the basic one, try the El Dominicano. Batista grew up in the Bronx, where his mother ran a bodega, and the shelves of old-school candy and quarter waters are a nod to that.
It's counter service. The Bodega Truck still runs for events and pop-ups; its weekly spots are posted on Instagram at @bodega.truck.
