The po-boy shop most people have heard of, on Hagan Avenue in Bayou St. John and open since 1911. Get the fried Gulf shrimp dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo, or the sloppy roast beef if you don't mind wearing some gravy.
Parkway calls its sandwiches "poorboys," the old spelling, and keeps a fried oyster on the specials board. You can order ahead online and pick up in the parking lot, which saves standing in line on a busy afternoon. Its own site lists hours of 10 to 6 on Wednesday through Sunday. Leave room for the banana pudding.
