About
The original store of Buffalo's late-night sub chain, open into the small hours, and the other name in the argument over who made the first chicken finger sub.
Jim's Steakout is where a lot of Buffalo nights end, and the chicken finger sub is the order. The one to know is the Jim's Bleu: chicken fingers with the house sub cheese and blue cheese, plus lettuce, tomato and onion, on a toasted Italian roll. Visit Buffalo's Brian Hayden describes the fingers coated in hot sauce, on a Costanzo's roll.
The quirk is the rivalry. Jim's says it started making chicken finger subs in the early 1980s, the same stretch John's Pizza & Subs in Tonawanda claims, and Buffalo Spree's chicken finger roundup sends readers here for the late-night version.
This Elmwood Avenue store is the one Jim's own site marks as its original location. It lists Thursday to Saturday, 10:30 am to 4 am, and Sunday to Wednesday, 10:30 am to 2 am. Walk-ins are taken until closing and phone orders until 15 minutes before; the Jim's Bleu is an in-store or phone order only, not online.
