About
Charlie the Butcher's city storefront in the Elmwood Village: a carving counter for beef on weck that WKBW described as a one-stop shop.
Charlie the Butcher is one of the best-known beef on weck names around Buffalo (Visit Buffalo's beef on weck guide calls its Kitchen "the most popular place" for one, "but the hype is well deserved"), and the Carvery on Elmwood is its storefront in the city. The manager here described the sandwich to WKBW in plain terms: sliced top round on a kaiser roll with caraway seeds and kosher salt. Visit Buffalo's spotlight on the brand adds horseradish from the Broadway Market, and notes you can watch the carvers work.
The quirk is that this is meant to be more than a sandwich counter: WKBW's piece on the Carvery called it a one-stop shop, built around the carving station.
Order at the counter. The company's locations page lists the Carvery at Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 7 pm, and warns that hours can change week to week with staffing and supply, so check before you go. Charlie the Butcher also runs a Kitchen on Wehrle Drive in Williamsville and express counters around the suburbs.
