Cafe 59 – Allentown

About

An Allen Street cafe and bar at the downtown end of Allentown that makes its chicken fingers from scratch and builds its subs on Costanzo's rolls.

Cafe 59's own menu boasts about its chicken finger sub, and Buffalo Spree's chicken finger roundup sends readers here "for scratch made fingers in the city," with a photo of the sub to prove the point.

The quirk is how local the build is. Visit Buffalo's listing for the cafe runs through its suppliers: rolls from Costanzo's, Weber's mustard, Sahlen's ham, Mineo & Sapio sausage and produce from Guercio and Sons. Costanzo's is the same Buffalo bakery whose rolls Visit Buffalo's Brian Hayden found under the Jim's Steakout chicken finger sub.

It's on Allen Street near Main, at the downtown end of Allentown. The cafe's site lists kitchen hours of 11 am to 10 pm every day, with closings on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Eat in, order online through the cafe's own ordering page, or get delivery.
