Signature Sandwich
La Original frita cubana
About
Benito and Angelina Gonzalez made fritas in Cuba, came to Miami in 1973 and opened this counter in 1979; their children run it now. The original is an all-beef patty in the family spice blend, with finely cut onion and house-made julienne potatoes on a Cuban bun.
Order the original first. If you want more, the Frita a Caballo adds a fried egg, and the Suprema piles on fried cheese, sweet plantains and an egg. A batido (a thick Cuban milkshake) is the usual thing to drink with it. There are other branches in Hialeah, on West Flagler and on Bird Road.
