The name behind the Houston po-boy. Antone's started on Taft Street in 1962 and its Original is still the blueprint: ham, salami and provolone on po-boy bread with mayo, dill pickles and a spoonful of chowchow, served cold. This shop sits on San Felipe just inside the Loop from the Galleria.
Antone's takes orders online for pickup, which beats waiting at the counter at lunch. The other Antone's sandwich shop is on West T.C. Jester in the Greater Heights, with the same hours.
