Signature Sandwich
Chopped brisket on Texas toast
About
A hickory-smoke joint on Inwood Road near Love Field that's been at it for about 50 years. It's best known for ribs, but the chopped brisket on Texas toast holds up. Pitmaster Pedro Garcia started there as a teenage dishwasher in 1977.
Ask for the brisket chopped fresh on the block rather than the pre-sauced chopped beef from the steam table; that's what Texas Monthly's barbecue editor did. Al Plaskoff's daughter, Lauran Weiner, runs the place now. There are cheap weekday lunch specials too.
