Kelly's Roast Beef – Revere Beach
About
The original Kelly's, on Revere Beach Boulevard at Oak Island Street, the stand where North Shore roast beef got its start. Ask for the Original Three Way: James River barbecue sauce, American cheese and mayo on a grilled sesame roll.
The story the company tells on its Our Story page (checked Oct 29, 2026): Kelly's opened as a hot dog stand on Revere Beach in 1951. The partners who ran it, Frank McCarthy and Raymond Carey, picked up roast beef left over from a called-off wedding banquet next door, sliced it onto grilled rolls, and sold out in an hour. They named the place after a friend, Thomas Kelly.
Kelly's now has outposts from Dedham to Logan Airport, but this is the only one without a drive-thru. Take the Blue Line to Wonderland and walk over. Open every day, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., per the Revere Beach location page.
