About
A liquor store on University Avenue in North Park with a deli counter that slices Boar's Head to order, and, by the owners' own account, puts potato chips inside the sandwiches.
The sandwiches have names you'll say out loud at the counter: the Hot Poppa, the Fatboy's Special, the North Park Club, and the Fat Bastard, which the owners told the East County Californian is the biggest thing on the menu. San Diego Magazine's liquor store sandwich roundup went with the Hot Poppa.
The quirk is the crunch. "Something that we are known for is that we put chips in our sandwiches," co-owner Andre Alfares told the Californian, and the meats and cheeses are Boar's Head, also sold by the pound.
Order at the counter, or use the Order Now link on Fatboy's own site for pickup. It also does sandwich platters and party trays for catering. Besides the deli it's a full liquor store with a craft beer cooler and snacks. The same family runs a second Fatboy's in unincorporated El Cajon, at 13305 Hwy 8 Business.
