A fish market with a small restaurant attached, on North Highland Avenue. The Hot Fish Sandwich is Mississippi catfish in a flour-and-cornmeal crust with chili oil, a sharp celery salad and buttermilk dressing on a butter-toasted seeded bun. It comes open-faced, so plan on a fork.
The kitchen says the open-faced plating is about showing off the catfish, not a Nashville hot riff, so the heat is gentle. If you'd rather skip the fryer, the blackened fish sandwich is the other big order (the Michelin inspectors call the blackened grouper "the house staple"), and the place holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Seating is tight, and you can also buy fish from the case to cook at home. There's a sister Fishmonger in Nashville.
